Ethanol push meets some resistance
(NET Radio) - In his State of the Union address, Bush called for a nearly fivefold mandatory increase in the production of ethanol and other renewable fuel sources. It means that by 2017 fuel producers would have to be putting out 35 billion gallons of alternative fuels a year. Critics of the plan say an increase in ethanol production would mean a need for more corn, which would cause added stress to the state's already low water supply. Another complaint is that high corn prices harm livestock producers, who rely on the grain as feed. © Copyright 2017, NET Radio
