Laws passed during civil war shape Nebraska

(NET Radio) - Even if American History wasn't your long suit in school, there are some years that stuck 1492 .1776. Now it's time to add a year to that list - 1862 - a year after the start of the Civil War. That year was a turning point for the US - especially for Nebraska and the Great Plains. One of the main reasons: The Homestead Act. Jerry Johnston has more.
