Radio parody provokes backlash
(2006-10-04)
LINCOLN, NE
(NET Radio) -
Late last month, a spot aired on Tom Becka's show on KFAB radio in Omaha. The spot parodies the "Discover North Omaha" effort to overcome high crime rates by highlighting the historic and cultural attractions of the area. But KFAB's version pointed to other neighborhood features, including mayhem, drive-bys, gang violence, arson, abductions and assaults. Becka says the backlash to the spot is simply a case of shooting the messenger.
