(St. Louis Public Radio) - Gamblers are losing more money at Missouri casinos than ever before.

The casinos took $1.4 billion from gamblers during the fiscal year that ended two weeks ago. That's an 11% increase over the previous year.

The state's Gaming Commission says Missouri's 11 casinos are up $100 million from last fiscal year.

Gamblers lost 8% more than they did last year. But another 1,000,000 people visited, which means a total of 24.3 million people went to the boats.

The Missouri Lottery also had a record fiscal year, with revenues of $791 million, nearly 12% higher than one year ago. © Copyright 2012, St. Louis Public Radio
