Volunteers Needed for Vaccinations
(2009-08-07)
(WEKU) - Hundreds of volunteers are needed for this fall's flu shot campaign in the Lexington area. The call for both medical and non-medical volunteers goes out as medical researchers scramble to develop a swine flu vaccine.

Greg Hiles with the Fayette County Health Department says citizens are urged to get vaccinated against both the seasonal and H1N1 flu.

"Since we are looking at the potential of the swine flu coming back we also want people to still remember the seasonal flu is out there so those vaccines are actually gonna be available in early September because we're not expecting the swine flu vaccines to come in until late October early November so we want people to get their seasonal as soon as possible," Hiles said.

Hiles anticipates public vaccination clinics for both the seasonal and swine flu. He says the schedule for those clinics has not been set.
