Army Secretary Resigns Amid Scandal
There's more fallout from the scandal involving substandard conditions at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
The Pentagon says Army Secretary Francis Harvey has resigned.
His resignation, announced by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, comes just a day after Harvey had fired the two-star general who was in charge of the medical center.
Gates didn't say that he'd fired Harvey. However, senior defense officials say Gates had asked Harvey to leave.
The Defense Secretary did say that he was disappointed that some in the Army hadn't adequately "appreciated the seriousness of the situation" relating to outpatient care at Walter Reed.
The Bush administration has been struggling to cope with reports of poor conditions for wounded Iraq War soldiers at the medical center.
