(UALR Public Radio) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency is auctioning off some of the trailers that are stored at the Hope airport after Hurricane Katrina.

Many non-profits and government agencies have expressed interest in having some of the trailers donated to them, including the state prison system, some school districts and organizations that help the homeless.

But FEMA spokesman David Passey says those requests have not yet been filled.

"Right now it is just the highest bidder on these units. We have a larger housing strategy that might involve donation to certain organizations in the future, but there's nothing official," says Passey.

The trailers are being auctioned off through the website of the General Service Administration - www.gsa.gov.
