This week... The ANGELS THEATRE COMPANY in Lincoln has a new musical opening September 6th at the Lied Center’s Johnny Carson Theater, "Rehab a Musical Journey." Director Judy Hart and playwright Nanette Gingery drop by for a preview. Tex and Mary Neal Schutz tell us about their line-up of country western musicians that they are bringing to Hastings once again. The MILES OF MEMORIES COUNTRY MUSICFEST runs September 6th through the 8th. The Nebraska History Museum in Lincoln opens one of the most unique exhibits in its history on August 31st. Curator Karen Keehr drops by to talk about "Doing Hard Time: Historic Nebraska Mug Shots." Author Jeff McArthur has an interesting connection to the Charles Starkweather murder spree that terrorized 1958 Nebraska. His grandfather was Caril Ann Fugate’s attorney through the trials and 17 year appeal process. "Pro Bono" examines the course of events, their aftermath, and how the story and its characters have become a part of the American zeitgeist and pop culture. McArthur previews his book, and he'll be at a book signing at A Novel Idea in Lincoln on September 2nd. Also, the PRESIDIO BRASS opens the season at the Midwest Theatre in Scottsbluff on September 7th. Willa Kosman talks about the group's "Sounds of Cinema" concert and the excitement of Bluffs Middle School Band members who will join them in the concert finale. And, we debut a new jazz review series by Tom Ineck, who takes a listen to the new CD, "Next Time You See Me," by baritone KEVIN MAHOGANY & THE DAVE STRYKER ORGAN TRIO. All that, a Ross film review, and a statewide arts calendar. That's on Friday Live at 9 a.m. Central on NET Radio, or as a podcast on netnebraska.org.
