"Nebraska Concerts" in July Offers Classical and Patriotic Music
This July "Nebraska Concerts" features an organ symphony; chamber music for flute, cello, piano and more; a patriotic parade; and, a piano quartet. "Nebraska Concerts" airs Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. CT on NET Radio. On Sunday, July 5, Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra, the American Guild of Organists and Abendmusik: Lincoln present a program entitled "Pedals and Pipes" with guest organists Christopher Marks and Jeremy Bankson, both from Lincoln. Marks performs Joseph Jongen's "Symphonie Concertante, Op. 81" with Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Edward Polochick, while Bankson plays Camille Saint-Saens's "Symphony No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 78, 'Organ'" also with the orchestra.

"Nebraska Concerts" on Sunday, July 12, will present a program made up of highlights from two concerts by Lincoln's Third Chair Chamber Players. Performances include "Ciclo Plateresco" by Joaquin Turina; "Sonata, Op. 94" by Jan Koetsier; "Liquid Autumn" by Joseph Curiale; "Trio" by Claude Debussy; "Trio" by Bohuslav Martinu; "Trio No. 28 in D Major" by Franz Joseph Haydn and "Trio, Op. 63" by Carl Maria von Weber.

The Omaha Symphony takes the stage for the Sunday, July 19, concert, a "Patriotic Parade" from their Casual Classics series. Conductor Ernest Richardson leads the orchestra in performances of patriotic American music from Aaron Copland, Morton Gould, Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein, Samuel Augustus Ward, Frank Ticheli and John Phillip Sousa.

Finally, on Sunday, July 26, the Los Angeles Piano Quartet plays three piano quartet compositions recorded at a Lincoln Friends of Chamber Music concert. They open with Ludwig van Beethoven's "Quartet in E-flat Major for violin, viola, cello and piano, Op.16," continue with William Walton's "Quartet in D Minor for violin, viola, cello and piano" and close with Gabriel Faure's "Quartet in C Minor for violin, viola, cello and piano, Op. 15."
