Conductor Lorin Maazel admits that at one point in his career, he spent too much time at the opera. He describes it as an addiction.

Since ending his 7-year tenure as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic, Lorin Maazel continues to guest conduct around the world and direct the Castleton Festival, a summer festival of mostly chamber operas at his home in Castleton, Virginia.
