Tribal Culture in Afghanistan Former NPR reporter Sarah Chayes on Afghan national and tribal identity. Presidential voting begins Thursday, August 20. by Jerry Johnston Lincoln, NE 8/15/09 Thursday 8/20/09, people in Afghanistan will vote for their next president. The US has increased its military presence, and the Taliban has promised to disrupt voting.
Earlier this year, former NPR Afghanistan correspondent Sarah Chayes was in Nebraska. In this interview with NET Radio's Jerry Johnston, she talks about Afghanistan's tribal culture.
