Flakoll says education recommendations to be phased in
State Senator Tim Flakoll (R-Fargo) is vice-chairman of the Senate Education Committee. He says the commission's consultants have come up with a number of good ideas for improvements -- but they can't be done in one fell swoop.
"We only have so many dollars to do things," said Flakoll. "And there's a situation with the tutors, mentors and teacher coaches suggested in the study where it will be tough for us to immediately be able to hire those staff. So we have to phase in."
Flakoll says there's a lot of interest in coaches for teachers, increased tutoring, and a more rigorous curriculum.
The Commission will make recommendations to Governor Hoeven to be included in his executive budget recommendations.
