Chapman: NDSU growing, gaining reputation
(2008-02-04)
(Prairie Public) - N-D-S-U President Joe Chapman says the University is becoming an "institution of choice" for the region.

Chapman says over the past seven years, the student body population has grown by three-thousand students. He says N-D-S-U is offering more undergraduate and post-graduate courses...and has grown its research programs.

"We really are emerging as a major national research university," said Chapman. "We're very proud of that -- and it makes us very atrractive to students from all over."

Chapman says the University attracts students from all 50 states, as well as 80 countries. He says state lawmakers appreciate the value N-D-S-U brings.

"North Dakota's going to have real challenges with workforce issues," said Chapman. "We think the things we're doing will be a major part of addressing that."

N-D-S-U is hiring 42 more faculty.
