Cass County Ethanol Plant Generates New Hope for the Region
(2007-08-17)
(NDPR) - Ground was formally broken today on a project hailed as the largest economic development project in the history of Cass County. Fargo Entrepreneur and Dazey, North Dakota native Gary Tharaldson is behind the Cassleton-area project. Tharaldson says he sees a bright future for energy and the people of the region...

"...I think it's a very strong impact for farmers in the area. We provide a local market for their corn, and for the communities hopefully we can provide the employment and tax bases and so-forth for the area. So it should be a win-win situation for everybody."

The plant will be capable of producing 100-Million gallons of ethanol annually and should be on-line in December of 2008.

Lieutenant Governor Jack Dalrymple farms in the Casselton area and calls it a tremendous shot in the arm for the region...
"...I'm not sure people realize yet how big an impact this will have on the area... 36-Million bushels of corn. I don't think people have really thought about how much corn that really is in 12 months. A payroll of 45-Million dollars. What that will mean to Casselton and the surrounding communities is mind-boggling."
