New Pipelines....Lower Gas Prices?
(2004-03-26)
(ksut) - Two Texas companies will spend nearly a half-(b)-billion dollars to build and expand natural gas pipelines through Colorado. Houston-based El Paso Corporation won federal approval for a new 425- (m)-million-dollar pipeline this week. It will be called the Cheyenne Plains Gas Pipeline, and run through Colorado to Kansas.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission also approved plans by Kinder Morgan Incorporated to invest 28-point-six (m) million for expanded capacity in its TransColorado pipeline. It runs from Rio Blanco County to New Mexico's San Juan County. Experts say the announcement could mean lower natural gas prices locally in coming months as producers increase production to fill the planned pipelines.
