Earning Income Through Carbon Credits Program
(2009-05-31)
(WOUB) - If you're a forest landowner in Southeast Ohio, there's a way to earn income from your trees through the Appalachian Carbon Partnership a carbon credits trading program.

The program seeks to provide landowners with income while fostering better management on non-industrial private forest lands.

A series of meetings last week introduced landowners, consulting foresters, and natural resources professionals to this program.

Susi Rankis of Rural Action says the partnership allows landowners to take advantage of their forests.

Rankis says the Appalachian Carbon Partnership is useful because it helps regulate private lands that are not currently managed.

Rankis says the program is beneficial to Southeastern Ohio because it is an opportunity for income for landowners and jobs for consulting foresters.
