Senator Grassley Speaks Out Against Smear Ethanol Campaign
(2008-05-20)
(wium) - U-S Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa is disputing claims that ethanol is responsible
for the increase in food and gasoline prices. Grassley says according to Iowa State University, if ethanol was not in the energy mix, gasoline prices would be 30-to-40 cents higher.

Grassley says the high energy costs in turn contribute to the increase in food prices. Grassley refers to attempts to discredit ethanol as the Ethanol Smear Campaign. He
says it's nothing more than misinformation.

The Republican Senator says ethanol is good for farmers, provides an economic boost by creating jobs in rural America, and is more clean burning then petroleum.

Additional Information:

*Grassley says everything about ethanol is good and there is nothing negative that can be said about ethanol.

*Grassley says 12 of 15 studies he has read disproved the myth that it takes more energy to produce ethanol then you get out of it.
