PSC hears pros and cons of electricity market regulation
Consumer advocates argued at a hearing Wednesday that electric deregulation has failed, while the Baltimore Gas and Electric and parent Constellation Energy Group insisted deregulation isn't to blame for rising electricity rates Both sides said each other's proposals would cause electric rates to go higher.
A preliminary report from the PSC in December indicated the commission is poised to impose some type of re-regulation.
The state People's Counsel favors a system giving partial control back to the state. But BGE and Constellation argued that soaring fuel costs are to blame for higher electricity rates.
