Interfaith got the house from the City of Wilmington, who ended up with it when its owner defaulted on a HUD-backed mortgage.
Interfaith Hospitality Network Director Steve Spain says financial help and sweat equity from St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church also helped Interfaith land the house.
I mean it's one of those things that we always talking about and somehow never seem to make happen, where government got together with the faith community and non-profit community an we all worked together to make something really good happen for everybody.
Spain says families with a job looking for affordable housing will stay at the home as long as they need. He says he hopes the city will continue to match up homes with homeless agencies.
