Cheyenne Officials Pleased With Recycling Participation
(2008-01-25)
(wpr) - Cheyenne city officials say they're pleased with the public participation in a new curbside recycling program.

The first collection from 1,500 homes collected about nine tons of material that otherwise would have gone into the local landfill. The homes received the recycling bins as part of a three-month test program.

City officials say they expect the collections will increase to about 15 tons every two weeks as residents get more familiar with the program.

Georgia Broyles is on the Cheyenne city council. She says people are eager for the program to succeed. She says people say they want the curbside recycling program to go citywide.
