Columbia's Earth Day Festival
A new addition to this year's Earth Day is Eco Avenue, a section of booths with the intent of spreading ideas on how to live a more sustainable life, this year's theme.
The largest part of this year's Earth Day is the street fair, which will consist of more than 200 booths offering environmental education and promoting non-profit businesses. Like years before, there is also a section geared towards children, which offers both activities and craft-making.
Mark Haim, Director of Mid-Missouri Peace Works and Earth Day 2007 coordinator, says that the real purpose of the festival is to spread the message of living with the planet in mind.
"Our goal isn't growth for growth's sake. Our goal is to reach as many people and involve as many people as we comfortably can with an important message of sustainability and community."
Earth Day 2007 is scheduled for this Sunday, but if bad weather arrives, it will be pushed back to Sunday, April 29.
