Growing ND Tourism
"...I've been getting a lot of calls -- especially during the hunting season -- from Wisconsin. We've had some from Germany, that have contacted me. We've had actually a few people from ovewrseas contact us. One from Japan also. And just, all over. I had someone from New York contact me recently. They realize we have a lot of hunting assets and that type of thing; and that's been their reason for calling recently."
Murray says winter tourism is also posting gains. She says each year the region sees an increase in activity as word gets out about snowmobiling and ice fishing opportunities in the area.

VALLEY CITY, ND
(Prairie Public) -
Tourism is the state's second largest industry and a group of central North Dakota counties is looking to build on the resource. Members of the 11-county Central Dakota Tourism Partnership are taking a look back at 2006, and in the coming weeks will map out what's in store for 2007. Kim Murray is executive assistant director with the Partnership. She says with a base of 200 members there's a lot of excitement with the group, and many ideas on how to promote tourism. Murray says leading the way for the region are activities related to the outdoors..."...I've been getting a lot of calls -- especially during the hunting season -- from Wisconsin.
