NY-20: Pro-Choice Treadwell Backs Pro-Life GOP Ticket
by Brian Mann (2008-09-05)
CANTON, NY (NCPR) - New York 20th Congressional District Republican candidate Sandy Treadwell says he strongly supports Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, although he differs with her on his stance on abortion.

"I very much hope that she'll come into the 20th District for me," Treadwell said.

He emphasized her work to reform government in Alaska and called her a "fresh face on the national scene."

Treadwell did confirm, however, that he and Palin have different stances on abortion.

"I am pro-choice," Treadwell said. Palin is staunchly pro-life.

"People look beyond a single issue. I'm very proud and pleased to be the nominee of the conservative party. I have former members of the Right to Life Party supporting my candidacy. They look beyond a single issue and look to what a candidate brings to the job and that person's beliefs and sincerity," Treadwell said.
