NY-20: Treadwell Challenges Gillibrand to 10 Debates
by Brian Mann (2008-08-29)
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (NCPR) - Republican Sandy Treadwell is challenging incumbent Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand to a series of debates in the New York 20th Congressional District.

Gillibrand has agreed to one debate. Treadwell is pushing for 10 debates, one in each of the 20th District's counties.

"I'm really looking forward to this dialogue," Treadwell said.

Treadwell said that Gillibrand is less conservative than voters may believe.

"She tends to be one person in Washington, and another person here in the district, " Treadwell said.

Gillibrand was at the Democratic National Convention in Denver when Treadwell made his challenge. She stated that she has agreed to one debate, and may be open to more depending on the fall campaign schedule.
