Description
89.3 The Current presents an evening with Low and members of Trampled By Turtles at the Fitzgerald Theater on Saturday, March 23rd, at 8:00p.m. This special show will celebrate the 20 year history of the band and the release of their new album, The Invisible Way, produced by Jeff Tweedy. Low will be joined on stage by members of Trampled by Turtles and host Mark Wheat will be on hand to interview the performers for the broadcast of the live show as part of our Current Sessions at the Fitz series.

Low has made ten studio albums and their music is known for its slow, quiet, sometimes melancholy and usually pretty quality. Their latest, The Invisible Way, will be released by Sub-Pop Records on March 19th. The Invisible Way has a slightly different feel from Low’s previous recordings with lots of piano and acoustic guitar and with drummer, Mimi Parker, singing lead on five of the 11 songs. The songs are about intimacy, the drug war, the class war and plain old war, archaeology and love.

About the Musical Performers:
Low was formed in Duluth in 1993 and Alan Sparhawk, Mimi Parker, and Steve Garrington have toured with Radiohead, Wilco, Nick Cave and Soul Coughing to name a few. Robert Plant has covered Low’s “Monkey” and “Silver Rider” on his 2010 Band of Joy album and was later nominated for a Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance Grammy.

Trampled By Turtles celebrates 10 years as a band in 2013. Within the contained music scene of Duluth, the members of the band did their own time in punk and rock bands, brandishing their electricity proudly before switching to acoustic instruments. While they never set out to be a "bluegrass" band, Trampled by Turtles employs many of the same traditional techniques of the genre, but their differences in influences, attitude and attack make for their unique sound.
