MSU's Ringer Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week
(2008-09-22)
(Associated Press) -

Michigan State running back Javon Ringer has been named Big Ten offensive player of the week for the third straight week.

The Big Ten said Monday that Ringer is the first Big Ten offensive player to earn at least a share the honor for three straight weeks.

Ringer on Saturday became the first Spartan to run for 200 yards in consecutive games. His 201 yards were the most by a Spartan against Notre Dame, breaking a mark that stood for more than a half-century.

Michigan State beat the Fighting Irish 23-7.

The Big Ten also said Northwestern's Vince Browne and Penn State's Navorro Bowman shared defensive player of the week honors, while Northwestern's Amado Villarreal was given special teams honors.
