Obama Better 'Teacher', 'Football Buddy'
(2008-09-19)
Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) addresses the crowd during his "Change You Can Believe In" rally at Cashman Field in Las Vegas
(Associated Press) -

Suppose voters were choosing a schoolteacher for their kids, instead of a president of the United States?

In that case, according to a new poll, Barack Obama would win.

Fifty-five percent of the people surveyed by the Associated Press and Yahoo News said they'd pick Obama to be their child's teacher. Forty-four percent said McCain.

People were also asked which one they'd rather watch a football game with. Obama won that poll too, but by a smaller margin, 50 percent to 47 percent.

The people who were surveyed generally said that for viewing a football game, they wanted someone they'd feel comfortable spending time with.

For a teacher, they often described a more complex process that measured a candidate's life experience and communications skills , and a tolerance of different viewpoints.
