Complaints Rise With Gas Prices
The Michigan attorney general's office is sending letters to 16 gas stations across the state inquiring about their fuel prices and costs in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.
It's the next step in determining whether any gas gouging charges will be filed in Michigan due to recent price increases.
Attorney General Mike Cox and Gov. Jennifer Granholm vowed to watch for gas gouging as the hurricane struck last week. About 1,000 people have since either e-mailed or called state officials about gas prices.
AAA Michigan reported Wednesday the average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Michigan was $4.15 early in the day.
That's down from almost $4.19 on Tuesday. But prices were below $3.90 a gallon late last week.
