Democrats File Complaint Over Alleged GOP Foreclosure Vote Plan
ANN ARBOR, MI
(Michigan Radio) -
The Obama campaign today filed a complaint with a federal court over an alleged GOP plan to screen out potential voters who's homes are in foreclosure.
Republican Party leaders deny a published report that they planned to use foreclosure information to discourage Democratic voters in Macomb County.
Michigan has one of the highest home foreclosure rates in the nation.
Bob Bauer is an attorney with the Obama campaign. He dismisses the denials.
"It is not only in Michigan we're seeing this, because this is consistent with a pattern and practice of the Republican Party across the country, as it has been their pattern and practice for decades," says Bauer, "And, we have seen the same indication of the use of foreclosure lists in the state of Ohio."
State Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis accuses the Obama campaign of being desperate for trying to keep this story alive.
