Biden Slams McCain in Suburban Detroit
Biden told hundreds of people at a suburban Detroit High School that Michigan is hurting because the Bush administration has failed to act in the face of sharp cuts in the auto industry. Biden says President Bush and Senator McCain are equally out of touch when it comes to understanding the problems of working Americans. He says electing John McCain as president won't result in change.
"We've seen this movie before, and we know the sequal is always worse than the original," Biden said.
Biden said McCain's economic programs are virtual copies of those of the past eight years under Bush and said they serve the rich while ignoring ordinary Americans.
Republican spokesman Chris Taylor said Obama and Biden would damage the economy with higher taxes.
Biden alo told Michigan supporters that the campaign of Republican John McCain is not being truthful with the American people.
Biden said that McCain has copied the divisive campaign tactics of ex-Bush strategist Karl Rove. Biden says the McCain campaign is not only distorting the record of Senator's Obama and Biden, but misleading the voters.
The same campaign that once called for a town hall meeting a week is now launching the low blow of the day in this campaign, Biden said.
McCain spokeswoman Sarah Lenti disputes Biden's comments, saying Obama and Biden are the most partisan presidential ticket in modern history.
Republican campaign strategist Karl Rove said on Sunday that both sides are being too negative and McCain went "one step too far" in showing ads that are not true. © Copyright 2009, Michigan Radio
