Factors That Lead Kids to Violence
ANN ARBOR MI
(Michigan Radio) -
Nathaniel Abraham is expected to be released this week, on his 21st birthday. Ten years ago, when he was 11, Abraham was accused of shooting and killing a teenager in Pontiac. He was charged with first-degree murder, and was one of the youngest people in America to be tried as an adult. A jury convicted him of second-degree murder, and he was sentenced as a juvenile, which means he needs to be released when he turns 21. Marc Zimmerman is a psychology professor at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health. Michigan Radio's Christina Shockley asked him to explain the factors that lead some kids to lash out in violent ways.
