3 Michigan Artists Win $50K Grants
You can hear their radio stories on public radio stations across the country, including Michigan Radio.
Dan Collison says he and Meister didn't even know the fellowship existed until they got their nomination letter:
"I had never heard of US Artists, and [the letter] said you've been nominated and you have a chance to win $50,000! You know, it's one of those emails you get from Nigeria that you don't respond to. So we just thought it was sort of like yeah, yeah right."
Luckily they did some research, saw it was legitimate, and filled out anapplication.
Michigan filmmaker Heather Courtney also won. She'll use the money to make a documentary about a group of 20-years olds from the U.P. who fought in Afghanistan.
