Michigan Fishermen Worry About Asian Carp
Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to order a number of Chicago-area locks shut down to prevent the spread of Asian Carp.
5 others states have joined the lawsuit since it was filed last month.
Eric Stuecher runs a charter boat business in Michigan. He says it'd be devastating if the Asian Carp made its way into the Great Lakes:
"Yeah, it would probably cost me the business. Because Asian Carp are not selective to only eat one type of food; they'll eat anything that they can get in their mouths."
He says that will lead to the ultimate demise of the waters' game fish.
The Obama administration opposes closing the locks, saying it would endanger public safety and disrupt cargo.
The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to take up the suit on Friday, January 15.
