Commerce Chief: Detroit to Be Site for New Office
Locke made the announcement at the National Summit in Detroit.
He says right now, it's too difficult for businesses to figure out how to use all the programs within the Commerce Department.
"Main Street business owners are too busy worrying about making payroll and keeping their customers happy," Locke said. "They don't have time to try to figure out how to navigate federal bureaucracies."
Locke said the office will be a pilot project that will start in Detroit. He said other offices could open later in the Midwest, and then the rest of the country.
