Stabenow: Health Care Bill Will Move Foward
The US Senate is expected to vote on opening up debate on the bill Saturday, Republicans are expected to try to block that vote.
Democrat Stabenow believes the votes are there to open the debate.
"We are assuming it will be 60 Democratic votes," says Stabenow, "We could have an additional 1 or 2 Republican colleagues. And we would certainly welcome them if they did."
Stabenow says there are also enough votes to reject a proposed amendment to ban abortion funding. A similar amendment was included in the House version of the bill. © Copyright 2012, Michigan Radio
