Censured Flint School Board Member Threatens Lawsuit
A Flint school board member says he plans to file a lawsuit against the school board members who voted to censure him at last week's board meeting.
The censure resolution is an unusually public rebuke, which followed several disagreements between David Davenport and the other 8 Flint school board members.
Davenport says the censure vote was a personal attack on him, for his efforts to have the other school board members recalled.
"If I've violated state, flint and local laws, then you arrest me, then tell the public that I've done something," says Davenport, "But don't go out saying I've done something when I haven't. So I feel like it's a personal attack."
The censure resolution contends Davenport violated school board policy by revealing details of closed door meetings and publicly criticizing other school board members. © Copyright 2012, Michigan Radio
