Jimmie Johnson Drives into the Record Books
(2009-11-23)
(Associated Press) - Jimmie Johnson has gone where no other driver has in the 61-year history of NASCAR. Johnson captured his fourth straight NASCAR Sprint Cup championship with a fifth-place finish in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

As he blazed across the finish line, Johnson shouted: "History, boys! How about some history!"

Johnson needed only to finish 25th or better to beat teammate Mark Martin for the driving title. That gives team owner Rick Hendrick his own NASCAR record, a 12th championship.

Denny Hamlin won the race for his fourth win of the year.
