Snyder picks up labor endorsement
Snyder accepted the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights' endorsement in Detroit.
His backdrop was the city's Labor Day parade where union members and activists campaigned for his opponent, Democrat Virg Bernero.
But the Carpenters and Millwrights are throwing their support behind Snyder. They say he's the best candidate to "fix Michigan," and that's what would most benefit their membership.
Snyder says he wants to "partner with organized labor" to re-build the state's economy.
"There's far too much win-lose attitude in our state about partisanship, about geography, about racial and ethnic issues, about labor and management," Snyder says. "It's time to bring people together. It's time to reinvent Michigan."
The vast majority of organized labor is strongly backing Bernero.
