Michigan Nuns Take Pro-Health Care Position
(2010-03-19)
(Michigan Radio) -

Some Michigan nuns have taken a controversial stand in the Health Care Overhaul debate. The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary are based in Monroe.

They are among 60 Catholic orders that this week endorsed the health care overhaul before congress.

"It is the consistent ethic of life that is steering the decision the Sisters have made about this legislation. It is the time to do it," says Nancy Seubert, "If we don't do it now, we risk losing the opportunity for decades."

Seubert says they have received complaints from Catholics who fear the legislation would open the door to federally funded abortion.
