(MPRN) -

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow says health care reform legislation is close to being finished.

Stabenow says the final bill would do several important things, like making it illegal for insurers to refuse coverage of children because of pre-existing conditions.

And she says it would give a tax credit to small businesses that cover their employees and force larger businesses that don't offer health insurance to pay into a system covering the uninsured.

She says the plan would reduce costs for everyone.

If Congress is able to pass the legislation, the bill would go to the president for his signature. But passage is far from certain with united Republican opposition.
