Funeral Service For Fallen Police Officer
Hundreds of police and other mourners have turned out for the funeral of a Jackson police officer who was killed in a shootout.
Services for 26-year-old James Bonneau were held Friday at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Wayne County's Canton Township, near Detroit.
Officers gathered in Jackson for an hourlong caravan to the funeral.
Bagpipers and drummers accompanied Bonneau's flag-draped coffin to the front of the church.
Bonneau was killed Tuesday after he and another officer entered the home of 63-year-old Elvin Potts.
Police say Potts fired at the officers, killing Bonneau and injuring 22-year-old Darrin McIntosh. Potts was fatally shot. © Copyright 2012, Associated Press
