(Michigan Radio) -

The state-appointed manager of Detroit Public Schools says he'll seek a court order to force witnesses to testify about questionable real estate transactions. Those witnesses include a current school board member.

Robert Bobb has been investigating how $1.5 billion from a 1994 construction bond was spent. But he says four people have refused to answer questions under oath.

"This is an affront to the people of Detroit who have demanded answers for too long, and who now, after many years of inaction on the part of district leaders to deliver those answers, believe that these matters can be brought to rest,' says Bobb.

The four people are a former appraiser for the district, two officials with a real estate firm, and former Detroit Deputy Mayor Anthony Adams. Adams is a current school board member. He was the school system's general counsel during the time the district entered into the real estate deals being investigated.
