The Senate is expected to pass the tax compromise package today. It calls for extended tax cuts for everyone, including the rich.

House Democrats are considering possible changes, including a higher estate tax, but even critics of the compromise think it'll pass the way it is.

The Senate has scheduled a midday vote on the bill. It is expected to easily pass with broad bipartisan support after clearing a procedural vote Monday, 83-15.
