A change at the top of Kellogg
There's been a shakeup at the top of Battle Creek-based Kellogg.
The CEO of the food industry giant is stepping down and another Kellogg executive is taking over the top job next month. David Mackay is leaving the CEO job after 4 years on the job. John Bryant is stepping up from the COO position.
Erin Swanson is a food industry analyst with Morningstar Financial. She says the change is intended to speed up development of new Kellogg products.
"Kellogg has been challenged over the past several months, or year by intense competitive pressures," says Swanson.
Swanson says Kellogg's new CEO will face a major challenge. Prices for materials going into the company's cereals are rising, but consumer demand is still weak, which may make raising prices risky. © Copyright 2012, Michigan Radio
