Enbridge officials say oil spill cleanup moving from river to riverbank
After a week spent cleaning up an oil spill along the Kalamazoo River, cleanup crews are turning their attention to the riverbank.
Steve Wuori, an Enbridge pipeline company executive, says cleaning up the riverbanks is the next phase of the clean-up.
"We're actively using a number of techniques to wash oil from the riverbank. We are initially doing that from boats, to the full extent possible, to minimize shoreline disturbance," says Wuori.
Company officials say they planned to meet a Monday deadline to submit a revised clean-up plan to the EPA. The previous plan was rejected because of problems with the plan's time frame and clean-up procedures. © Copyright 2012, Michigan Radio
