Granholm Touts Tax Credit Program ANN ARBOR, MI (Michigan Radio) -

Governor Granholm was in Ann Arbor today to take part in a medical equipment company's dedication of a new manufacturing plant.

Terumo produces cardiac surgery equipment. The company's expansion has been funded in part with state tax credits.

Granholm says its important to focus on tax credit success stories.

"Two weeks ago, Michigan was designated as the third best state in the country for attracting new facilities because of the tools we have," says Granholm.

State officials are dealing with one tax credit deal that turned sour. State lawmakers plan a hearing next week on how a convicted embezzler was granted 9 million dollars in state tax credits. He's since been arrested on a parole violation .and the tax credits have been rescinded. © Copyright 2012, Michigan Radio
