DPS Sinks Cash Into Security
Emergency financial manager Robert Bobb made the announcement a day after bomb exploded inside a Detroit middle school. A student has been charged in the incident.
"Our new safety and security plan is designed to improve school monitoring with state-of-the art digital cameras and alarms, and a new employee and student badge system that combined, will allow us to know exactly in our buildings at all times," said Bobb.
Bobb says the new systems will cut police response times in emergencies.
In addition to the cameras, alarms, and badge system, the district also plans to build a new public safety department.
