Michigan Wind-Energy Generation Slows
In 2008, Michigan was one of the top five manufacturing states for the growing wind industry, but last year it fell behind.
Kathy Belyeu is with the American Wind Energy Association.
She says the manufacturing side of the industry in Michigan is hurting from economic slowdown.
"That's one reason that we are pushing strong for a national renewable energy standard like you have in Michigan," Bellyeu says. "So that we can provide a long-term incentive for companies that want to makes these large investments in manufacturing facilities."
Texas is the wind powerhouse of the United States. It provides more than 25 percent of the nation's wind-power-generated electricity.
