A Modern Pilgrim Feast: Facebook, Twitter and Turkey
It's called the Turkey Throwdown. Danny Beckett came up with the idea only a week ago. He put word out on Twitter and Facebook. By Friday, nearly 80 people said they would come.
But Beckett says more may show up when the event begins at noon. He's not even sure how many turkeys to have ready.
"There's been talk of two to five to 10," he says. "It depends on how many people are there. We're going to have to have enough on hand where we can just fry em up."
Beckett and his helpers are asking people who show up to supply the side dishes. They also want people to bring extra non-perishable food to donate to a local homeless charity.
The event takes place outside the Biggby Coffee near Rosa Parks Circle downtown.
