Groups Ask For Investigation Into Imam's Killing
The groups want the Justice Department to investigate "potential civil rights violations" surrounding the death of Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah last month.
Abdullah was killed during a series of FBI raids targeting members of a Detroit mosque.
The FBI has called Abdullah "an Islamic extremist," and says he pulled a gun on Federal agents. But the groups say both claims are questionable.
Dawud Walid is with Michigan's Council on American-Islamic Relations. He says Metro Detroit's Muslim community wants U-S Attorney General Eric Holder to address the shooting when he visits Detroit this week.
"People want to know if Attorney General Holder is going to take up this situation," Walid says. "There are other people who are upset and angry, and they plan on protesting."
Holder will speak to law enforcement officials and minority groups in Detroit on Thursday.
